How to Share and Get Remote Support on your Mac

Sharing your screen on Mac computers like MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac can be really helpful for tech support, collaboration, and more. This article explains how to screen share and give remote control on Macs using the Messages app. 

First, make sure Messages is set up on both your Mac and the Mac you want to share your screen with. Open Messages and choose the thread with the contact you want to share with. Click the ‘i’ icon and then select “share” and then click “Invite to Share My Screen”. 

The other person will get a notification and they’ll click on “Options” and then “Accept”. You’ll see their phone number pop up under the screen mirroring icon in your Mac’s Control Center. 

If you want to give the other person control of your screen, click on “Control” and they’ll get a notification. Click “Accept” to let them control your Mac. To end screen sharing, tap the screen mirroring icon in your Mac’s Control Center and click “End Screen Sharing.” You’ll get a notification that they have disconnected and you’ll know that they can no longer see your screen.
